Zircon Geochemistry & Weatherability.
(U-Pb Dating Systematic Biases)
One of my research interests is to understand how depositional environment chemistry could affect zircon (ZrSiO4) in terms of geochronology. Zircon is recognized as a resilient mineral capable of surviving billions of years, and often used for U-Pb geochronology. My goal is to study how different depositional environments and their chemistry can affect individual zircon grains by causing more Pb loss in certain environments compared to others therefore producing younger zircon dates.
