Calibrating Early Paleozoic Time Scale

Geology and the concept of deep-time is represented by the geologic time scale. Unfortunately, the early Paleozoic time scale (Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian) presents serious problems due to problems with biostratigraphy correlations between the traditional marine timescale and non-marine stratigraphy. In addition, there are boundaries and stages in these periods of time that have not been radiometrically dated extensively, and depend mainly on biostratigraphy. Our goal is to use high resolution zircon geochronology in GSSPs locations in the United Kingdom to obtain accurate dates and calibrate the geologic time scale.
